Fibroid is a term used in the medical field for different types of tumors. Although the meaning may be obvious in its context, in general this term can mean several things:
- Fibroids are a generic term for uterine fibroids; benign growth consists of leiomyomas or myomas (smooth muscle cells) originating from the uterus.
- A fibroid is also another name for fibroma, a tumor of fibrous connective tissue normally found on the skin
