The eternity ring, also known as the infinity ring , is a female ring consisting of a series of precious metals (usually gold) set with continuous lines of identical cut stones (usually diamonds) to symbolize a never-ending love, usually given by a spouse to his wife on a significant birthday occasion, usually after 1 year or more of wedding year Since the existence of the stones along the way of the ring of immortality can make it difficult for use, the alternative is to have stones all over the face of the ring. It is sometimes referred to as a "half eternal" ring and not a "full" eternity ring.

The ring of immortality features an outdated gem, white topaz or a mixture of rocks appearing in the 18th century.

History

The concept of diamond eternity rings was created in 1960 by the De Beers diamond merchant. American investigative journalist Edward Jay Epstein stated that at the time the company had a secret agreement with the Soviet Union that, in return for the creation of a "single channel" that controls the supply of diamonds in the world, 'required' 90-95% purchase of diamond cut gems produced by Russia. The prevailing fashion of the moment, especially for engagement rings, is for them to be set with a single, large diamond. The Soviet gem, however, is small, often less than 0.25 carats. To avoid hoarding, De Beers embarked on a jewelry promotion campaign that contained a number of small diamonds that culminated in an eternal ring, aimed at older and married women. One campaign slogan addressed to husbands is, "He marries you for being richer or poorer, let him know how he is."
