Irvington Community Schools is a K-12 rental school company located in Irvington Historic District in Indianapolis, Indiana. Originally Chartered by Ball State University, ICS, Inc. is currently chartered by the Indiana Innovation Innovation Education Office.
ICS, Inc. provides a liberal arts focus: all K-12 students participate weekly in Physical Education, Music, Arts programs, and Foreign Languages.
Three Irvington Community Schools Inc. schools respectively, by design, small community schools:
- The Irvington Community Elementary School has three classes per grade (K-5) and serves more than 400 students;
- Irvington Community Middle School (Grades 6, 7 & 8) serves approximately 240 students;
- The Irvington Preparatory Academy, (Grades 9 through 12) enrolls about 340 high school students.
In 2009, the school was awarded the Maestro Award from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. In addition, 7 school students have artwork on display at the Indiana State Museum through the Symphony in Color competition by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra representing a large number of awards for one school.
