The RES Group ( Renewable Energy System ) is a global renewable energy company that has been active in the renewable energy industry for over 30 years. Its main business is to develop, build and operate large scale renewable energy projects that connect with worldwide networks for commercial, industrial and utility clients. RES is active in wind (offshore and offshore wind) and solar energy sectors and is increasingly focused on transitioning to a low-carbon economy that provides transmission, energy storage and demand-side management skills.

History
The Renewable Energy System began in 1982 as part of the engineering and construction group of the company Sir Robert McAlpine. The initial years were spent researching various designs for commercial wind turbines, including work on vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) models and now widely used horizontal units (HAWT). The company built the first commercial wind farm at Carland Cross in Cornwall in 1992, using 15 Vestas turbines, each 400 kW capacity. In December 1998, the first commercially designed 1MW wind turbine designed and built in the UK was installed by RES at Slievenahanaghan, Co Antrim.
In 2001 the company built the largest wind farm in the world at King Mountain in Texas, using 214 Bonus turbines with a capacity of 1.3 MW. In 2005, RES won the Queen's Award for the Company in the category of Sustainable Development. Recently the company has been active in the growing offshore UK wind power market. It has supported the delivery of both onshore and offshore engineering work for wind farms Lynn and Inner Dowsing off the coast of Lincolnshire in the UK.
The RES Group has now developed and/or built more than 100 wind farms worldwide, with more than 12 GW of capacity. In addition, he has projects in his books totaling several thousand megawatts worldwide, at various stages of development.
The group will manage the assets of the Renewable Infrastructure Group, a company engaging in wind and solar winds in the UK, France and Ireland, which plans a flotation of the stock market to raise up to GBP 300 million.
RES Group has offices throughout the UK, Europe, North America and Australasia.

United Kingdom Headquarters
Since the end of 2003 RES has been based in the low carbon headquarters building at Beaufort Court, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire in England. This unique site, centered on the old 'Art and Craft' style of Ovaltine Egg Farm building originally built in 1929, uses electricity supplied from the Vestas V29 220 kW wind turbine and from photovoltaic panels in place. The heat comes from 170 m 2 solar thermal panels and from biomass boilers. Misanthosa energy plants are grown on 5 acres of sites, while cooling is produced on demand using pumped groundwater.
