The Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower is a 180-foot (55 m) tall tower on the edge of the Illinois River Mississippi at its meeting and the Missouri River. The tower completes the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site, about a mile to the south, where the Lewis and Clark Expeditions create winter camps before setting up the Missouri river.
The tower has platforms at 50, 100, and 150 feet, providing a good view of the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Downtown St. Louis and Gateway Arch can also be seen from the tower. The tower has two legs connected with a platform view, with a lift on one foot and a ladder on the other. Its construction, which runs from 2002 to 2010, is funded by $ 5 million from local and state sources.
