arkOS is a Linux distribution based on Arch Linux, designed primarily for hosting websites and services on ARM-based devices such as Raspberry Pi, Cubieboard 2, Cubietruck or BeagleBone Black, with plans to expand to other platforms such as x86.

Jacob Cook, the main developer of ArcKOS, originally authored the arkOS idea after realizing the amount of time it took to set up its own swathe service. He explains it by saying: "I have a lot of experience with Linux and system administration, but it still takes a lot of time and research to get the service I want, and secured it properly." Cook aims to reduce the dependence of cloud services and make data collection more difficult.

Until March 2014, arkOS is in development. The arkOS creator has also set up the CitizenWeb organization, which is responsible for the development of the operating system. CitizenWeb also asks for money through a successful crowdsourcing campaign to complete the platform.

As of April 2017 arkOS has been discontinued, with lack of resources as the main reason. The source code remains available in GitHub.
